The House

Meet our new home! From October through December, we’ll be living and working from a newly-built Geodesic “Sky Dome”, located inside the Osa Mountain Village permaculture community. With a zip line in the backyard and close proximity to the beach (read: surfing! diving! snorkeling!), we’re excited to make this our base of operations this fall.

Like what you see? We’re still accepting applications. Apply now!

The Sky Dome was designed and built in 2012 and features a geodesic triangle of full floor to ceiling glass with 240 degree plunging views across the jungle valley to the Pacific Ocean. If you want to work outside, pick from any of the 4 decks. At 2600 square feet, the dome has 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths, ensuring that everyone on the team will have their own room.

Looking to work out? The lower level is a gym equipped with weight machines, set of barbells, dumbbells and kettle bells, and miscellaneous exercise fixtures. Jog up the mountain about 1km to the Village’s community center where a swimming pool, a bar, restaurant and other Villas are located.

The Community

Since we’re new to the country, we wanted to make sure we were staying near a community we could join. We’ll be staying in the Osa Mountain Village Permaculture Resort located in the Southern Pacific Zone of Costa Rica. 90% of this 750 Acre sustainable Eco Resort Village been set aside as a primary jungle reserve. The rest consists of the village, tilapia ponds, garden area and a handful of pristine ocean view lots, such as the one this home is situated on. Eco tourism is a large and quickly growing segment of travel in Costa Rica. Every year visitors come from all over just to see this food producing eco-village in operation.

We’ll be able to interact with the people living full time at Osa Mountain Village. We’ll learn more about perma-culture, and enjoy an onsite full service restaurant, a bar, pool, Central America animal refuge, the butterfly garden, Osa zip line canopy tour (highly recommended), one of the worlds longest “superman lines”, the longest waterslide in Central and South America, Bird watching, waterfalls, rapelling and hiking! Each week, we can take our food basket to the community table and they will fill it with a variety of in season same day picked, vegetables grown on site and eggs as available.

There’s a local pool, with a bar named Toucan Tilly’s. We’ll be taking breaks from work in style — one side of the bar is in the pool, so you can sip a frozen umbrella drink without even leaving the water. Toucan Tilly’s features a full bar and a wide selection of brews as well as snacks if you need something to go along with your drink. They have billiards, table tennis and ping pong tables.

Fall 2013!

We can’t wait to kick off P&F in one of the coolest homes Costa Rica has to offer. We’re still taking applications, so if you’re a developer or designer and want to join us… apply now!
